
Nicholas Croghan is the Director of The Pensacola Museum of Art at the University of West Florida and teaches museum studies, gallery practices and studio art classes at UWF.
Croghan is a mixed media artist who uses traditional and non-traditional materials to create 2D and 3D art objects. In his recent work he uses metalpoint as the primary medium. Silverpoint, copperpoint, goldpoint, brasspoint and nickelpoint are used to investigate the fine details of mechanical systems, landscapes, and architecture.
In 2014, his artwork “Facades” received the Cinco Banderas Permanent Collection Purchase Award. Before coming to UWF in 2012, he managed academic galleries, commercial sales galleries, folk art organizations, multicultural centers and directed expansive museum exhibition programming.
Degrees and Institutions:
Croghan received a bachelor’s of fine arts degree from Murray State University, a master’s degree in art from the University of Louisville, and a master’s in fine art degree from Colorado State University.
